Title: Natural Hazards, Disaster Risk Management and Community Resilience
This Natural Hazards, Disaster Risk Management and Community Resilience course is developed because of the observed knowledge gap and skills required for addressing the increasing hazards and disasters in Nigeria and some other countries. The primary aim is to provide participants with the essential knowledge and cutting-edge analytical tools for a prompt and robust emergency response during natural disasters.
The strategies for effective mitigation, monitoring and management of natural hazards and disasters will be covered in detail. Participants will gain insights into the latest tools, best practices, and implementation methodologies to reduce the socio-economic and environmental impacts of natural hazards and disasters.
Target Audience
Environmentalists, Geoscientists, Geographers, Meteorologists & Climatologists, Surveyors, and Engineers (Civil & Agricultural). The target audience also includes key officers in the National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMAs), Humanitarian NGOs (e.g., Red Cross, CARE), International organizations (e.g., UNDRR, UNDP, World Bank, IFRC), Research institutions, Universities and Local Government Emergency Management Departments.
Admission Requirements
Applicants should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in relevant areas. Unemployed graduates can also apply.
